Following is a brief history of how WISDOM TEETH ONLY came to be.

The Beginnings of Wisdom Teeth Only

After graduating from Northwestern University Dental School and completing a Board-qualified specialty at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. O.D. Bluth (WISDOM TEETH ONLY founder and director) established a full-scope practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the northern regions of Utah.

After nearly two decades of working long hours and having the responsibility of being the only Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the area, Dr. Bluth was essentially "burned out" and had to decide whether to continue trying to "be everything to everybody" or to perhaps leave his cherished specialty behind.

Precisely at this time, the Bluth family (Dr. Bluth, his wife, Carolyn, and their seven children) were asked by their faith to serve a multi-year assignment outside of the United States, completely away from Oral Surgery and dentistry. This proved to be a challenging but very rewarding time for the entire family.

Upon returning home to his specialty practice, Dr. Bluth soon faced the stresses and pressures he had felt before. But this time - either by "chance" or (as he firmly believes) from some deeper source - Dr. Bluth had a life-changing epiphany: he would do only what he had enjoyed most and had done best his entire career: he would limit his practice to removing wisdom teeth. The answer was crystal-clear; WISDOM TEETH ONLY was born that very evening.

Over the next nearly twenty years, the idea was nourished, groomed and modified continuously until it now has its own identity and unique presence in dentistry. Dr. Bluth received a federally-registered trademark for the WISDOM TEETH ONLY logo and, with the participation of two other Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon colleagues, established the business across much of the State of Utah. In January, 2008, a new business model of WISDOM TEETH ONLY was launched, this time applying its benefits throughout the entire United States and Canada (with potential in many foreign countries as well). Such is the product of that July, 1989, revelation.
